Each sale lasts 36 hours and features hand selected styles from a single designer. The business model, based on urgency and scarcity, offers extraordinary goods at incredible prices, but only for a limited time. All of these sales occur daily at noon, driven by daily email reminders and alerts to a private membership. Most of the hot items are sold within the first 10 minutes, with the bulk of sales occurring within the first 90 minutes.
Job Description
The VP, Data Analytics is a hands-on technical leadership position. The Manager will build a team of 3-4 engineers who will have complete ownership of the Data / CRM applications at Gilt Groupe which will include:
• Selection and Integration of a business intelligence application, primarily focused on supporting the finance teams
• Selection, integration and/or building of a merchanding planning toolset focused on developing models to support the merchandising team
• Creation and development of a large scale data warehouse designed to support the majority of data requests at Gilt Groupe.
• Creation of a recommendation engine that would combine behavioral data with social network data to create the world’s best product recommendation system
• Creation of a data analytics groups focused on leveraging the latest technologies and science to analyze large amounts of data while providing the ability to integrate that data stream back into the transactional website.
Required Skills & Experience
• 10+ years developing software for online applications
• Passion and drive to achieve, delivering world-class quality.
• Strong communication skills – successfully working with the other businesses at Gilt Groupe is critical.
• Relentless focus on the customer. This group will primarily serve internal groups – a relentless focus on their needs will drive the success of this team.
• Deep architectural experience. Building scalable systems to turn data into information is hard. We need people who have a passion for data and the background to truly scale data processing.
• Previous leadership building and managing a small team of highly productive engineers
• Thorough understanding of change management processes, balancing flexibility and responsiveness with business and financial controls.
Education
• BS or MS in Computer Science.
